Collective Worship At St Mary’s

At St Mary’s Church of England Primary School, the daily act of collective worship is an integral and important part of school life. Through this and in the general ethos of the school we seek to promote our vision of: ‘feeding the mind, body and spirit so we can be the best we can be.’

We come together as a school community at the start of each school day, to share our love of God and each other. We promote our vision and spiritual values, which are at the heart of every thing we do.  We learn about faith in today’s world, explore the teachings of Jesus and relate them to the wider world around us.

During this special time together, all pupils and adults have the opportunity to  experience prayer, stillness, worship and reflection.

The contributions of staff, pupils, clergy and other visitors are valued highly. They are often involved in planning, leading and evaluating collective worship to ensure that the whole school community feel included, engage meaningfully and know that their  views are valued and respected.

Collective worship has a weekly theme which is explored through: Music, prayer, sacred texts, reflection and celebration.
