We took part in a wildlife garden explorers workshop where we took on the role of explorers, wearing explorer hats and magnifying glasses and investigated the wildlife in the wildlife garden. We also explored other parts of the museum including the dinosaur zone, where we saw a life size t-Rex, the creepy crawlies zone and an art installation called Museum of the Moon.
Science Day: On Science Day, we took part in lots of experiments! We did paper marbling; took part in a workshop doing lots of experiments; observed paper towel colour mixing; made tissue paper newts float; had a talk from a nutritionist and showed off our amazing posters all about scientists!
World Book Day: On World Book Day we dressed up as our favourite book characters. We took part in a fashion show with Year 1 to show each other our outfits. We also made collages of the boat from the story The Storm Whale and in the afternoon, half of the class went into Year 5 and half of Year 5 came into our class and we took part in ‘buddy reading’, which we all really enjoyed!
DT Week: In DT week, we designed and made our own merry-go-rounds. We researched merry-go-rounds and thought about what materials they are made from. We then made our own figures to put on to our models. We put the main parts of our models together and connected it all to a motor, so that they are able to spin!
Conscience Alley: We took part in a ‘conscience alley’ where we all gave advice to Noi, the little boy in the book The Storm Whale by Benji Davies. We were trying to persuade him to follow our advice to either tell his dad about the baby whale in the bath, or to keep it a secret from him. We then wrote letters advising Noi.
We visited the Enlightenment Gallery at the British Museum for inspiration and then created tiles using sketches we had made there. We then printed from the tiles we had made before displaying our work in a mini exhibition.
